Turkey is ready to cancel its visa regime with Ukraine if the latter takes a similar step with respect to Turks, Turkish Ambassador to Ukraine Ahmet Bulent Meric has said in an interview with the Dzerkalo Tyzhnia (Mirror Weekly) newspaper, UKRINFORM reported.

“The current visa regime is not convenient for both sides... The Turkish side is ready to immediately refuse from visas if the Ukrainian government agrees to take the same step,” he said.

He also said that the reception of Turkish visas by Ukrainian citizens who want to travel to Turkey is currently maximally simplified.

“Ukrainian citizens who want to travel to Turkey for tourist reasons should not wait near Turkish diplomatic or consular institutions in Ukraine. They have a chance of receiving visas on the Turkish border upon their arrival [in Turkey]. Moreover, Ukrainian citizens pay less than Turkish citizens who want to get Ukrainian visas,” the ambassador said.
