The State Committee of Ukraine for Technical Regulation and Consumer Policy (DerzhSpozhyvStandard) has endorsed 444 national standards being in line with the international and European ones and 5 amendments harmonized with the European ones since the beginning of 2009, committee chief Larysa Losiuk has said.

According to the DerzhSpozhyvStandard press-service, as of December 1 Ukraine had 5,998 national standards harmonized with the international and European ones.

Losiuk says that unlike the European practice, Ukraine actually lacks orders for the works on standardization from businessmen. All this, she believes, restrains the pace of harmonization of national standards with the international and European ones.
