The Central Election Commission (CEC) has handed in an ID of a presidential runner for the leader of the Party of Free Democrats, Mykhaylo Brodsky, and Kyiv City Council deputy Oleksandr Pabat. Thus, there are fourteen officially registered presidential candidates for today in Ukraine, including incumbent President Viktor Yushchenko, Premier Yulia Tymoshenko, Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn, ex-Speaker Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Communist Party leader Petro Symonenko and others. Meanwhile, the CEC denied registration of presidential candidates for four self-nominees, who failed to make a UAH 2.5 million deposit or draw up papers correctly. Overall, nine persons have been denied registration for today. The Voting Day is January 17, 2010. |
