President of Ukraine meets President of Germany

 

President Viktor Yanukovych met in Berlin with President of Germany Christian Wulff.

 

During the meeting that was friendly and frank, the two Presidents have discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, European policy, and Ukraine’s plans to conduct reforms and strengthen democracy.

 

The Ukraine's President assured that pays enough attention to democratic processes in Ukraine for them to gain momentum. In particular, speaking about the preparations for local elections in Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych noted that this will be the first test for the new government.

 

"I am interested that these elections were transparent and democratic like no one else," he said.

 

Christian Wulff, from his part, told Viktor Yanukovych that "during your stay in Germany you will see a lot of sympathy for Ukraine, a lot of interest in the reforms undertaken in your country.”

 

"Our countries should cooperate in the XXI century,” the President of Germany said – “I see my task in deepening and strengthening such a cooperation.”
