The Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Mr. Pavlo Klimkin, paid a working visit to Brussels to participate in the next round of high level political consultations between Ukraine and the Kingdom of Belgium

 

At the consultations, the delegation of the Belgian Federal Public Service of Foreign Affairs was co-headed by the Director-General for Political and Multilateral Affairs, Mr. Jean-Arthur Régibeau, and the Director-General for Bilateral Relations, Mr. Geert Muylle. The Ambassador of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Belgium, Mr. Ihor Dolhov also took part in talks.

A wide range of topical issues of international policy, bilateral relations and multilateral cooperation of mutual interest was discussed during the consultations.

Taking into account the EU Belgium Presidency that started from 1 July 2010, a special attention during the talks was paid to the EU-Ukraine cooperation, as well as to the ongoing process of implementation of EU institutional reforms.

While discussing bilateral relations, the Parties addressed the preparatory activities of HRH Prince Philippe’s visit (an Economic mission) to Ukraine this fall. The Heads of delegations expressed their satisfaction with the results of implementation of the Road Map for bilateral relations between Ukraine and the Kingdom of Belgium, its Communities and its Regions for the period 2010 – 2011, which proved to be an effective instrument of a comprehensive development of cooperation between two countries.

The Heads of delegations agreed to continue the practice of regular meetings at the level of Deputy Foreign Ministers.
