On 25 February 2010, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Belgium, Mr. Yevhen Bersheda, had a meeting with the State Secretary of the European Affairs of the Belgian Federal Public Service of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Olivier Chastel.
The agenda of the meeting has covered Belgian EU Presidency priorities in the second semester of this year, the current state of EU-Ukraine relations in the light of ongoing negotiations on the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, the topical issues of Ukrainian-Belgian bilateral cooperation in the context of Ukraine’s Euro-integration course, in particular in the framework of the EU Eastern Partnership initiative.
During the meeting, the Belgian high-ranking official reaffirmed his country’s support of Ukraine’s Euro-integration aspirations. The State Secretary declared Belgium’s readiness to intensify its cooperation with Ukraine, including sharing the Belgian expertise with the view to bringing about the rapprochement of Ukraine to the EU and deepening the process of democratic and socio-economic reforms.
