On November 22, 2009 a Holodomor commemoration ceremony remembering the Victims of the Ukrainian Famine/Genocide of 1932-1933 held in the Ukrainian Cathedral of the Holy Archangel Myhail (Genk). Ukrainian clergy served a memorial service for victims. After the speech, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Belgium, Mr. Yevhen Bersheda laid a wreath to the monument “to victims of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine ", which is located beside the cathedral.

The event was attended by representatives of local authorities, NGOs, the Ukrainian Diaspora and the Embassy’s staff.
